Indroduction
To host short-term guests at your property in Greece, you must ensure your listing is properly registered or licensed with the national authorities.
This is a legal requirement to advertise and receive bookings across all major platforms.
Property owners must complete one of the following registration options, depending on their situation.
Registering your property for short-term rentals
To host short-term guests in a vacation rental in Greece, you must either obtain a licence from the Greek National Tourist Organisation (GNTO, known as EOT in Greek – Εθνικός Οργανισμός Τουρισμού) or register your property on the Short-Term Rental Register.
- GNTO licence (EOT licence) — This official licence is required for certain types of tourist accommodations. Once approved, you’ll receive a registration number that must be displayed on all listings.
- Short-Term Rental Register — Properties rented for short-term stays must be registered with the Greek authorities, which provides a registration number that you are legally required to display in all property listings.
You can find detailed steps on how to apply for a GNTO licence here.
