Registering Your Holiday Let with Local Authorities

This guide will provide all the information you need to register your holiday let in France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Scotland, Italy, and Turkey with the local authorities.

If your property is located in France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Scotland, Italy or Turkey, you must add your local licence information in your Travelnest account. This is a legal requirement, so your listing can be advertised on major booking sites such as Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia. Failure to comply may result in fines.

Please note that other countries or regions may also require a tourist licence.

Some of the steps below may take time — it’s wise to start early.

Where to find the local licence section in your Travelnest account

  • Log in to your Travelnest account and choose the property you wish to update.
  • Go to your listing details section, and click on Local laws and regulations.

  • Depending on the country, you may be prompted to enter additional fields (for example, tax number, establishment code, etc). After entering the information, click Save changes so booking platforms receive the updates.
