How do I set my cancellation preference?

Modified on Fri, 20 Sep at 3:01 PM

In your Travelnest account, you have the option to choose one of a range of cancellation preferences for your listings. However, properties listed for the first time are set our recommended Flexible or Non-refundable to encourage more bookings, as guests often filter for this option.

In the Channels section of your account, you'll see an option to select your cancellation preference. From the drop-down list, you can choose from Strict, Moderate, Flexible, or Non-refundable. The selection you make here is applied at the account level to all listings on all channels, except for the Non-refundable option which is currently only available for the Booking.com channel.

The table below provides an overview of the cancellation preferences you can choose and a summary of how they are treated by each channel through Travelnest.

Please note that: Our cancellation preferences are labelled based on Travelnest policy names, which might differ from the names displayed on the channel's website.

Non-refundable rates

In addition to the Flexible, Moderate, and Strict preferences, versions to include a Non-refundable rate can be offered where guests have the option to secure a non-refundable booking at a 10% discount. This will be offered in addition to the standard cancellation preference.

This currently applies to listings on Airbnb and Booking.com only. We're working to bring this functionality to other booking sites soon.

Which level of cancellation preference should I select?

When selecting your cancellation preference, we strongly recommend choosing Flexible or Non-refundable. This option will encourage guests to book your property. Bear in mind that data from Booking.com, one of the world’s largest booking sites, show that listings with more flexible cancellation policies benefit from 3X more bookings.

Which cancellation preference is right for me?

Choosing the right cancellation preference can significantly impact the visibility of your listings across multiple channels and the number of bookings you receive. You can check our tips on this guide here to help you choose the right cancellation preference according to your needs.

How do cancellation preferences affect my bookings?

It’s important to understand how the cancellation preference you set in your Travelnest account is treated by each channel. As well as reviewing the table above, we recommend you take a look at each of the links below. Here you'll find a more detailed explanation of how each preference works on different channels, and how this affects when you will be paid.

Please note that: For Airbnb, reservations in Italy or made by South Korean guests will have a different interpretation that should be checked here.
