What is AirCover
AirCover is Airbnb’s protection programme for hosts. It is automatically included with every booking and provides coverage for guest-related damage and liability. As a Travelnest host, you do not need to set a security deposit for Airbnb bookings because any eligible claims can be handled through AirCover.
What AirCover includes
- Host damage protection – Covers up to $3 million in damages caused by guests, including furniture, appliances, and personal belongings.
- Pet damage protection – Covers damage caused by guests’ pets.
- Deep cleaning protection – Covers additional cleaning costs for smoke odours, stains, and other issues.
- Income loss protection – Covers lost earnings if future bookings need to be cancelled due to guest damage.
- Host liability insurance – Up to $1 million in coverage for guest injuries or damage to their belongings while at your property.
- Guest identity verification – Airbnb screens all guests before they book.
- 24-hour safety line – Dedicated support for urgent safety concerns.
What is not covered
AirCover does not cover cash, securities, or damage caused by natural disasters. It is also separate from any personal insurance you may hold.
How to report damage through Travelnest
If an Airbnb guest causes damage to your property, Travelnest will handle the AirCover claims process on your behalf. Follow these steps:
1. Document the damage
- Inspect the property after guest check-out and take clear photos or videos of any damage
- Gather receipts or estimates for repairs if available
2. Contact Travelnest support
- Contact Travelnest with full details and supporting evidence.
- Our team will submit a claim through Airbnb’s Resolution Centre
3. Airbnb's claim process
- Airbnb will first request payment from the guest, who has 24 hours to respond
- If the guest does not pay, Airbnb will assess the claim under their Host damage protection
- Travelnest will liaise with Airbnb throughout the process
4. Reimbursement
- If the claim is approved, Airbnb will process the payment.
- Payments typically take 7–14 days to be completed.
Important information for hosts
Claims must be submitted within 14 days of check-out and before the next guest arrives.
- No security deposit is required – AirCover automatically applies to all Airbnb bookings.
- Exclusions apply – Some damages (e.g., natural disasters) are not covered.
