In this guide, you'll find answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive from hosts about the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for properties in Scotland.
Why do I need to upload an EPC when I didn't before?
The Scottish government guidelines have changed. It has been mandatory to have your EPC on display in your property for a number of years, but new legislation dictates this must now also be displayed on any online adverts.
What if I don't have an EPC?
You should already have an EPC in your property. If you do not, you should refer to the Scottish EPC register at https://www.scottishepcregister.org.uk/.
Where can I get an EPC?
Refer to the Scottish EPC register at https://www.scottishepcregister.org.uk/. You can also find more information on the Scottish Government website here: https://www.gov.scot/publications/energy-performance-certificates-introduction/.
How long do I have to get one?
If you do not have a valid EPC (issued in the last 10 years), you should begin getting one immediately. Booking.com require that you upload a photo of this by September 30th.
