How fees and deposits can impact bookings

Our advice on fees and deposits

Having a large security (or damage) deposit (e.g. more than 20% of the nightly stay) puts guests off from booking your property. Remember guests have to pay this in addition to your nightly rate, so a large security deposit can mean losing out on bookings.

If you have more than one property and wish to add a security deposit for each, these deposits will then be visible to guests on your listings.

How to add a security deposit for your property

  • Log in to your Travelnest account, navigate to your Home page, and select the Property for which you would like to add a security deposit.

  • Then, as soon as you select the property, several sections will appear on the right-hand side. Under the 'Pricing and availability' section, you'll find the option 'Security deposit and cleaning fee'. Click on that if you wish to add a security deposit.

  • Then, this section will appear for you. If you wish to add a security deposit, tick the box next to 'Charge a security deposit', enter the amount inside the box, then click 'save changes'

  • For information about cleaning fees read our guide here.

Travelnest does not manage security deposits

Please be aware that you are responsible for collecting security deposits from guests - Travelnest does not manage this on your behalf.
