What should I do when I get a booking?

Next Steps After Confirmation

When you receive a booking, it sets a chain of tasks in motion — from confirming your property details to preparing for your guest’s arrival. This guide tells you what to do at each key stage to stay organised and ready.

Booking confirmed

Once a booking is made, you’ll receive a confirmation email and an SMS containing the core booking details:

  • Property name
  • Check‑in / check‑out dates
  • Guest name & contact details
  • Payment information
  • Any comments left by the guest

Where to view guest details for each booking

  • Log in to your Travelnest account, select the property and navigate to the Bookings section.
  • Select the booking you want to view.
  • In the detailed view, you’ll find guest contact information, an option to message them directly, plus other key details such as number of guests, dates, payment breakdown and booking channel.

Calendar and availability update

Once a booking appears in your Travelnest account:

  • The Travelnest calendar will automatically block those dates across all your chosen booking sites to prevent double‑bookings.
  • It’s still your responsibility to keep any external calendars or listings up to date — unless you have an iCal sync enabled, in which case the system handles availability updates automatically.

The guest is given your contact details

Ensure your contact details are correct in your Travelnest account — this is essential so we can reach you. We also share your details with guests so they can contact you if needed.

Preparing for arrival

  • We’ll send a Booking Reminder email 7 days before the guest’s check‑in date.
  • Use that as your prompt to message your guest: introduce yourself, share check‑in times, arrival directions, house rules or any other necessary details.

Payment is made after the guest's arrival

Ensure your bank information, address, and phone number are correct in your Travelnest account — without these, payment may be delayed.

You’ll be paid once the guest has checked in. Review our payments guide for exact timing.
